At the end of the European regional preparatory meeting held in Geneva last January, the Major Groups represented agreed to support the development and use of National Sustainable Development Strategies (NSDS), as a useful tool for governments to implement sustainable development.

The Trade Union Major Group has agreed to organise a follow up meeting. The NSDS Division will provide a short overview to describe the NSDS. Governments that have signed up to the process will be invited to attend, with a few of them providing input on how Major Groups and Governments could work more closely to strengthen the NSDS process.

Major Groups that have already done work on related NSDS issues will be invited to share their experiences, followed by a fairly lengthy discussion period.

All Major Groups are welcome.
